Mungedar Farm is located between Moora, Dandaragan and Badgingarra in Western Australia’s North Coastal Wheatbelt. The property crops approximately 7,500 hectares annually, producing cereals and oilseeds as part of a large-scale broadacre farming enterprise.
We are seeking a capable and motivated Assistant Farm Manager to support the Farm Manager in the day-to-day running of the property. This role is suited to someone with strong operational farming experience who is ready to take the next step in leadership, planning and farm business management.
Working as part of a small, focused team consisting of the Farm Manager, Assistant Farm Manager and two Plant Operators, the successful applicant will play a key role in coordinating seasonal operations, supervising staff, maintaining high standards of safety and execution, and helping drive the continued productivity and efficiency of the farm.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Farm Manager with the planning and delivery of all broadacre cropping operations, including seeding, spraying, fertiliser application, harvest, machinery preparation and general farm maintenance.
- Support the coordination of day-to-day farm activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high operational standard.
- Supervise and guide farm staff, contractors and seasonal labour where required, helping maintain a positive, accountable and productive team culture.
- Operate and maintain modern broadacre farming machinery, technology and equipment, including GPS-guided machinery and farm management systems.
- Contribute to crop monitoring, paddock inspections, chemical and fertiliser planning, record keeping and operational reporting.
- Assist with the management of machinery, infrastructure, sheds, workshops, vehicles, fuel, chemical storage and general farm assets.
- Support the Farm Manager in managing seasonal risk, including weather delays, pest and disease pressure, machinery breakdowns and operational bottlenecks.
- Help ensure the farm operates in accordance with FMS workplace health and safety requirements, chemical handling standards, environmental obligations and relevant industry regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ practical broadacre farming or agricultural operational experience.
- Strong machinery operating skills, with experience in modern broadacre cropping systems highly regarded.
- Good understanding of seeding, spraying, fertiliser application, harvest operations and general crop production.
- Ability to lead, supervise and support farm staff in a practical, hands-on operating environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond calmly and practically to machinery, seasonal, logistical and operational challenges.
- Sound organisational skills, including the ability to plan work, prioritise tasks and meet seasonal deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work constructively with the Farm Manager, staff, contractors, suppliers and the broader FMS team.
- Attention to detail in machinery operation, chemical handling, farm records, safety compliance and crop management.
- Full driver’s licence required.
- ChemCERT or minimum AQF Level 3 chemical accreditation required.
- Certificate III, Certificate IV or other tertiary qualification in agriculture will be highly regarded.
